Here's my answer: Windows Vista for you. They got lot of bugs to clean up.

You could have invested in a new Mac.

It has better resale value than PCs and Macs now have closed captioned support with Quicktime 7.1.6.

And There is also C/C support in DVD player in Mac OS X, it works beautiful.

DVD player only plays from DVDs.

We were talking about stand-alone video players for playing movie files which are WMP, QT and RM.

I don't know if RM have CC support, though.

Calm down! He was referring to quicktime for Windows! You can always get 3rd party software to replace that current DVD player software that you're running on.

This is not a good forum for software tweakers, for your information. I suggest you go to a forum that discuss about software tweaking, coding, etc. Most of us don't know much about that in this forum.

OMG! Don't be so uptight! I was talking about this:
Apple - Support - Downloads - QuickTime 7.1.6 for Windows

Well, sorry but you're fucked. You got Windows Vista way too early because it is not stable enough, and many softwares are not fully compatible with Windows Vista. Even the service pack for Vista isn't out yet.

My roommate's father bought a new Dell with Vista installed. In less than 2 days, it stopped working with his programs he used to work on in his old computer. I dunno how to help you there because I heard and read a lot of reports of software/hardware problems with Vista.

Good luck on that!

I don't like you say "fuck"
I will turn block you, please not you use this it
if I will block, you can't read it,
say "SORRY" me

OMG. You got me all wrong!

You're being so sensitive. I am not cussing or insulting at you. I'll rephrase that:

"You're screwed. Microsoft is all hype and no beef!"

You asked us, and you're being a bitch. Maybe you shouldn't ask next time if you're going to have that attitude.

I was just trying to HELP!

as a pc-man -- or pacman, get it yet? ha -- i can vouch for deaf258's remarks. it's always best to wait for at least a year or longer before buy the product from microsoft when their latest product releases to the public.

Looks like rhr will have to rollback on WindowsXP in order for the DVD player to work right.

it is bug that I found I have two comptuer vista, I check another comptuer perfect one CC without subtitle, I think ATI is no good and bug, another computer is Nvidia.

This is interesting. I didn't expect graphics card be the root cause. Do both computers have the exact same settings? Do both computers have "Basic CC1" enabled? Do not enable "Advance Service 1". "Basic CC1" is analog and "Advance Service 1" is digital. CC from DVD is analog.

Also, do both computers use same video cable connection? How do you connect your computer to TV? Do you use:

1) DVI or HDMI cable
2) Component cables (three color coded RCA-like cables)
3) S-video cable (single cable with multiple pins)
4) Composite (simple single RCA cable)

If you use DVI or HDMI, I don't think you will get CC from DVD player program because CC from DVD is always analog and DVI/HDMI is digital.

CC will most likely not work with component cables if computer outputs in progressive scan. You must use interlace scan with component cables in order for CC to work. I do not know if it's possible to control interlace/progressive scan in computers.

S-Video or composite should work with CC. Many video cards have S-video output. Try use S-video if you are not using it.

I have seen video cards to strange things. If you are having problems check to see if your video card is compatible with Vista. You could always see if you could swap the video card - if it works then you are fine. If not put the old one back in.

.... and that's why some people are such idiots - they can't figure things out on their own. They see a problem, and they freak out.

For myself, ohh yes, I have experienced a lot of problems, not just on Vista, but also on XP and Server 2003. For instance, my new video card I installed 2 weeks ago wouldn't work on Server 2003. I hunted on the vid card manufacturer's website ('twas nVidia, if you insist on knowing), and tried the XP drivers (there are no drivers specifically for 2003, sadly) ... whoops, a blue screen when I rebooted to the 2003 partition. I then made a "Last Known Good Configuration" boot to Server 2003 and then disabled all of the "goodies" that required the vid card. All went well this time, albeit the blahs the goodies of the vid card left behind (generic driver supplied from the Server 2003 R2 CD).

I did it all without support whatsoever. If I happen to run into an issue, I don't instantly grab a tissue to cry on; instead, I just search on Google for the fix. Real hard for you guys to do.

Oh, and I have Vista here right now, and I have zero problems, probably because the programs I have is perfectly compatible with Vista ... well, minus the Lexmark printer/scanner/fax, but it's Lexmark's problem, not Microsoft's. I checked on their website, and it said that Lexmark'd be releasing drivers for my printer by the end of this month. Once I get that driver and install it on Vista, then yippee it works.

*shakes my head* at those people who expect everything to work fine forever.
