Sometimes, I wonder what the % of white cats, white ferrets(albino), and white dogs are born deaf. I'm not talking about white dogs in general. I'm thinking more of those that happens to be white and deaf. Are all white Great Danes deaf? What about other breeds such as Husky or Dalmations? I wonder if Dalmation with no spots would be more likely to be deaf?

That is a good question.. I have a white and BLUE eyes kitty but she could be hard of hearing. My friend found her and told me that kitty was deaf. But I took her home. I notice that She can hear some and some not. I m not sure if she can hear more than deaf. :dunno2: She's so beautiful!!

Well, White husky are very rare and I met them before and they were hearing to me. We have mixed dog as pit bull, great dane, and bassett hound. He is white with black dot. Top half both eyes are brown and bottom half both eyes are blue. He is Deaf but he can hearing when our huskies bark so loud then we tried to scream at close range for test and he heard us.

Dalmatians are most common for Deaf.

His name is Lucky. Brown husky is King and black husky is Queen.

So Queen is runt and still taller than Lucky but Lucky is 52 LB and Queen is around 50LB.

:DLOVEthe pictures!

what I read about was that eye color may or may not be related to deaf but degree or lack of pigment on the face/ear does relate to to it.

Dal puppies - Dalmatians - are born white and the spots develop as the puppies mature

I found what I think is a very intriguing page about the variations in color and pattern of Dalmatians. I knew about the traditional black and the liver color, but there's a bunch more on that page/link!

oh, here's the page: http://paisleydals.com/color.html
