My hometown Cheyenne Wyoming is placed in forth place on windiest in National this year.

I experienced windiest here for 5 years of my life. Worst I had seen roofs torn, debris everywhere, billboards destroyed, fences, and many. My trailer survived over 80 mph windy all day few times. I love windy!

Very interesting! I remembered Reno had a bad wind one time (during that time I was at Clarke) and the apartment by off Freeway 395 had torn off. YIKES! :eek3: I don't remember what else it has been destroyed by the strong winds. I don't mind the winds but not all the times. :)
 
it said that Cheyenne was rated nbr 1 in 1990 not this year... i wonder who is on nbr 1 list this year??? hmm..

i cant find the list?? where is it? hmm..

Is Chicago the windiest city?

In 1990, Chicago ranked twenty-first in the list of 68 windy cities, with an average wind speed of 10.3 miles (16.6 kilometers) per hour. Cheyenne, Wyoming, with an average wind speed of 12.9 miles ( 20.8 kilometers) per hour, ranks number one. It is closely followed by Great Falls, Montana, which has an average wind speed of 12.8 miles (20.6 kilometers) per hour.

The highest surface wind speed ever recorded was on Mount Washington, New Hampshire, at an elevation of 6,288 feet (1.9 kilometers). On April 12, 1934, its wind was 231 miles (371.7 kilometers) per hour and its average wind speed was 35 miles (56.3 kilometers) per hour.

I know Portland, Oregon have badly windy too and they can't build any taller than the buildings they had right now because of the wind!
