I just met Mark Apodaca at the Iowa Association of the Deaf 2005 Conference in Waterloo, Iowa (4-6 Aug).
I'm happy to say that our state organization has been going through many changes while remaining true to our culture and heritage. Lately, many conferences have been focused on the future. The theme for this year's conference was "Honoring our Deaf Culture"!! It was a big hit among the attendees!
It's interesting that Mark's anology used a British Hurricane, used by the RAF's
Eagle Squadron vs. the F-15
Eagle, some of which are stationed at Lakenheath AFB in England.
I'd have to say the Iowa Association of the Deaf looks like a Hawker Hurricane, but is fitted with a fine WSO (board) so, the pilot (president) doesn't have to fly alone. It also has the latest technology onboard. The only thing that it needs to keep aloft is fuel (membership). I think we're ready to attack our challanges! If you're not careful, this little plane may startle you with it's sonic boom!
