DVD

VHS

UMD

HD-DVD

BLU-RAY

For me, I think DVD is the best because it's pretty easy and cheap to make and sell them since DVDs are getting cheaper now these days and I hope they would go like that for a very long time.

Blu-Ray (Its called BD)

DVD is already nearly technical limited, new disc are start expands into HD-DVD and BD. I think DVD would going decline and more cheaper like VHS in few years later since BD is become dominant soon but doubt about HD-DVD would stand in longer because too much compete. DVD is used expensive in around late 90's then BD/HD-DVD will going same thing in few years later.

VHS is already died since most electronic stores stopped to sell VHS then replace for BD and HD-DVD, Wal-Mart and Target will start stop sell VHS in end of 2006, or in early 2007.

I'd say BD. Right now I can't afford it. Only for "early-adopters" who have a whole lot of money to burn and those who are getting new home theater receivers that have Dolby Digital HD and/or Dolby Digital Plus, two new formats from Dolby Labs...

Well, how do you know that Wal-mart and Target will stop selling VHS by end of 2006 or early 2007? Nope, you got it wrong. They will still continue to sell VHS until everyone has DVD players in a few years or depends on people's budget. Please don't assume unless you got the real facts.

By the way, I prefer any DVD for saving data, movies, etc. It's a great format.

VHS is BEST THAN ALL!

I, indeed, agree with you!!!

Several reason why should have VHS.

• Make own VHS video and send to your foreign friend, most in international don't have DVD! It's TRUE!!!
• Easy to re-write all over again and again
• It's frickin CHEAP!!!
• I can use VHS as weapon. *bang on insect* Take that!

DVD all the way!!!! I wonder HD DVD and BD player can be play on standard TV or must be HDTV/ LCD TV only?

HD DVD/ Blu-Ray make no different on standard TV - pretty much same as DVD.

Only both might disc compatible for awesome visual on any TV that said "HD-TV"
