what's your escape?

Everyone has times in their life where they have to get away from the world, and just relax or take their mind off things. I rely on music, whether playing it listening to. It has really helped get me through some times where I just thought I couldn't take anymore. Road trips (especially by myself) really help to clear my head. So what's your escape? What helps to take your mind off your worries? Whether its a hobby, a place you like to visit, or just an everyday activity, share it.

Roadtrips, driving, and travel are my way too: New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island, New York, and recently to D.C via train.

I also check into local history that I should either have claimed to have seen or things that make my region unique. The first World Series was played in Massachusetts, and where homeplate was has a plaque. I have to go and see it near Northeastern University in Boston.

Other things that I have seen or want to see are the Norman Rockwell Museum, America's only Stonehenge in southern New Hampshire, and the museum in Fanuiel Hall which is on the top floor. (admission to this museum is free)

Mine is go play softball for a couple of hours and atv riding are my escapes..

My escapes?

Drawing out (I got like ... seven sketchbooks burrowing in my bedroom. )

Writing out my trains of thoughts before it collide (I kept diaries since I was 7 years old. Now I am on my fourth diary. I always go for blank diary-- so I can doodle while I am thinking what I want to write. I hate lined-papers. UGLY LINES!).

Cuddling with my cat. It is amazing how much I start to relax after my tantrum or "spat" with somebody while I pet Diamondback...

Sleeping. Let it be a siesta or a short nap. It is hard to sleep sometime when my mind wouldn't shut up ...

My newfound escape is-- walking out of the house and taking a stroll. I have began to do that recently because I no longer have my own space since my bedroom is now shared wtih my husband. My husband doesn't like it when I walk right out and nowhere to be found. Once I went too far by walking to my car (I wasn't mad at my husband-- I just wanted to be alone) and driving away to park at a nearby dead end that oversees a canyon. My pager was going off like crazy. :-X
I think I finally got comfortable (and confident) by being alone and able to navigate around the city and especially in my neighborhood which enables me to take on this new form of escape. It is fun to look around in a new milieu and just forget it all because you were too busy to analyze the buildings, the people, the fauna, the floras and the sky.
The sky is the best thing to look at...
