What's G20?

it's not just Canadians. There are always protesters from all around the world at any G20 summit. Some are "professional" agitators - meaning they're the organized leaders who incite destructive riots.

handful of protests there is unrelated... which is funny.

There were a lot of peaceful protesters, but the Black Blocs just had to go and ruin it for everyone.

However, the government is also to blame. They passed regulations to give the police more power. Without telling anyone, that is. You could be arrested without a cause. If you just happen to be walking to the corner store and there is a protest nearby, you could be arrested and charged.

It was a very tense environment over there in Toronto last weekend.

It was a bad idea to put the summit right in the middle of the downtown of Toronto. They spent over $1 billion on security alone. What a waste of money.

I agree with you. It is ironic what other people (not from Canada) who are trying to ruin our protesters and the city. What's the beef with the Black Blocs and other countries that want to destroy the city of Toronto trying to do? Don't they know it is costing a lot of money for repairing and putting every thing back the way it is? It would have been easier for other countries to have peaceful protest instead of violence. I don't understand why other countries like violence so much that they don't care how much damage it would cost them. If the Black Blocs and other angry people are in jail, then that is what they need to earn their punishment for damaging the city of Toronto. Tsk! Tsk! it is a shame. :nono:

banjo is right...a lot of the protestors aren't even canadian and a lot of ppl are getting arrested and such for simply walking down the street which is ridiculous

I've heard dozens of news about law-abiding G20 protesters taking matter in their own hands to deal with Black Broc morons and preventing them from vandalizing, inciting, etc.

Beating up looters looks like fun......Might make that my new hobby

I love how this is the image in which Canada was portrayed as being to dozens of foreign representatives... (*Sarcasm*). Apparently, a couple dignitaries and journalists planned to stick around for a bit after the G20, but changed their minds and wanted to leave as soon as possible. The burning police car in downtown Toronto, and abusive police officers (many innocent people were assaulted by the police) were also a nice touch. Needless to say, it was embarrassing to watch the news.

It's like that at every G8 and G20 summits though.
