...it is proven that our president (US) was not born here (United States)?

He would be thrown out of office, the sitting vice president would take over until the scheduled election. Yeah it would make headlines but we have a fix already in place. He would also likely serve time in prison for falsifying documents. But because he wasn't stopped from serving in the US Congress, and that he had to prove himself legitimate when he announced his candidacy for President I am sure his documents are Kosher. People are just looking for a story that's not there.

Possible impeachment, but that is difficult to achieve.

They tried to impeach Clinton.

Wouldn't that be too harsh Glenn?

Question: Why not change the "must be born in American to be president" rule?

I am an Independent, if you are curious. :)

I don't know if it is harsh. I am just saying he might face impeachment.

I am curious as to what Americans will say or do as days pass and no birth certificate is produced. This "trivial" probe could bite Obama in the ass. And all this comes at a very bad time for the administration.

Shouldn't Schwarzenegger run for the office of president as a Austrian? I mean what is the big deal if you were not born here.

Heck I was born in Cuba myself and shortly after my first birthday my family fled the Socialist island to America. If I were politically incline, why not allow me to be a presidential candidate for the top office? Come May I would have lived here in America for 41 years. That one rule does not make any sense to me personally.

How do you feel about the rule?

Do we not have viable candidates who were born here?

It's an old rule and I suppose the lawmakers feel that the rule doesn't need to be changed at this time.

It may be changed someday...who can say?

it's 100% impeachable offense and it's easily achieved. It's against the law for a person not born in America to run for President.

a funny coincidence - South Korea's having a political turmoil right now because the President of South Korea falsified his background. He was actually born in Japan. Unfortunately - there's no crystal-clear law saying that a person must be born in Korea to run for President.

absolutely not! One must be born and raised in America to run for President. period. and there's a reason for that.

would you want a charismatic person born n' raised in Mexico or Saudi Arabia to run for President? :ugh:

I don't agree that it is easily achieved. A sitting president is a powerful person.

Why wasn't Clinton booted for his indiscretions? He lied under oath, which is also against the law.

You can't predict what will happen in another 200 years. America may not longer be what we know it to be.

a foreign-born President is a huge deal...
Lying under oath in a witch-hunt trial over sexual indecency is... trivial.

not gonna worry about 200 years later but I know for sure that it won't change for next 60 years :)

Must be nice to have a crystal ball.

Would Palin be a better president than a foreign-born one simply because she was born here?
