What Michigan rust can do to your car

One friend of mine has a 1998 Olds Royale 88. It has 182K. Recently, the front frame broke. He had one friend of his weld the broken part together. It's ok now. He plans to get a new car with tax refund.

What worries me is that back frame will probably be next. He is going to drive it, but not too much.

Earlier this year, he was trying to sell it for $1000. If it was $700, someone may have bought it only to see frame go ashtray on them.

How to avoid from rust? Wash cars more often even winter time and wax two times a year.

I noticed that when I moved from Chicago to Florida, I rarely saw rusted cars in Florida. That salt/snow is brutal to cars.
