The ghetto is cheap. If you want to live in a moderately safe area with convenience and good shopping/dining, you're looking at some of the most expensive property in the entire country. Seriously. I live in one of the "affordable" cool/safe areas, and I'm still paying a ridiculous amount of money. Safety is a very important feature to consider in DC. Rough town.
