I learned that our contractor has already notified the local fire department that I am deaf and will be in my own home soon. The contractor came by to let me know, then I had a man from the fire department come by as well. He asked all kinds of questions that both the contractor and I answered. He asked about the floor plans to the house and the prospective fire and smoke alarms. Contractor told him what he was getting and we showed him the preliminary floor plans that show where all the alarms are going as well as all this special stuff for me. Everyone was pleased and I am now registered with them for special circumstance evacuation and such for any weather related happenings.
