RR, why did you leave edible out on the patio? 
I am not sure if you were talking differently about edible, not fruit basket?
PFH ~ Thought racoons have rabies, but poisonous? I will google it up. At this time, I lived in DC. I happen to have a row house on the top and I laid down on the roof to bake myself under the sun. That day was a very very hot, humidity and very sunny, around 95 degrees or so. Luckily that I decided to open my eyes and looking at other row houses of the top and spotted the raccoon. It was coming toward to me. 
Racoon was too thirsty when racoon saw the leftover water look like pond on the roof on the right next to my row house. I was freaking out and ran into inside my apartment. Couple of minutes racoon walked over my roof to the next row house and drank it up and staring at me through the window. 
Racoon was pretty huge! It was a bigger size than cat's size.
