I just found something the other day and thought I'd share it with you all. If you have a mobile device or phone that allows you to add and watch videos to it then this is one way you'll be able to watch them with subtitles.

I found this free program called PocketDivXEncoder. So I can take a video I have on my computer. Shrink it down in both video size (Smaller file) as well as it's dimensions to match my phone screen. You can also add subtitles files to it so the compressed video will play them. Or in their words:

PocketDivXEncoder allows you to encode any video clip with optimized parameters for handled devices (landscape mode, 240x320, low CPU usage, increased brightness, ...). The video output standards are directly playable on PMP devices (Archos,...) but also on your PocketPC, Smartphone or Palm thanks to the player The Core Pocket Media Player. The clips are created thanks to the fast encoder mencoder.

It has a list of video formats you can use. If your mobile devise is listed then it'll automatically make the video work for you device. If it isn't listed then you'll have to find out what video format your device or phone will play and the right dimensions of the video.

Now if your phone won't play the video formats the above program supports. I've got another solution for you. What you'll do is use the above PockerDivXEncoder program to create your video with the subtitles in the right size you need. Then you can take the video it creates for you with the subtitles and use another program to convert the video to the format your phone or device supports.

I found this great free video converter. It's better then most of the ones I've paid for and this one is free. It's called the Quick Media Converter.

Below is a link to a sample video I just made using the above programs and process. I took a clip from a movie (Grease) and used the PockerDivXEncoder to make it a smaller file and make the width and height how I want it. I also added a subtitles file to it. Then I used the Quick Media Converter to convert the AVI file to a WMV video format. I was able to bring the entire movie down to below 200mb using these steps.

Click here to see the sample I made.

I hope this helps someone. Let me know if you have any questions or need any help.
