Washington School for the Deaf trustees have narrowed a pool of nine candidates to three finalists for the position of superintendent.
They are: Rick Hauan, the school's assistant superintendent since 2004 and current interim superintendent; Larry Hawkins, superintendent of the Oklahoma School for the Deaf since 2000; Victor Vodounou, a deaf education researcher who is an associate professor at Stephen F. Austin State University in Texas.
The trustees will meet in a closed-door session Friday for final deliberations, then forward their recommendations to Gov. Chris Gregoire, who will appoint the new superintendent.
