Fiji Daily Post News - Vodafone ATH Foundation Donates $1000, 00 to Deaf Students

Vodafone brought cheerful smiles to 42 children and staff of Harland Hostel for the deaf at Samabula yesterday when they donated $1000, 00 towards their Christmas party which will be held later in the week.

A present for each special child has become an annual tradition that will include several other homes in the country.

Organizer and Founding board member, Mrs Manorama Singh said the event has become a tradition with Vodafone ATH Foundation and the children are always looking forward to this special occasions.

“Once a year we choose a few Homes, Special Schools and Hostels within the country and try to make their Christmas meaningful,” she added cheerfully.

“We asked the Hostel to email us their list of boarders, all of whom have some extent of hearing problem, and our staff picked the child they would buy a present for. I am aware that some of the staff has bought books board games and even beauty products for the students.”

“The money donated is to ensure that children and staff can celebrate together before they disperse for the holidays. Some of the children are traveling back to their homes as far off villages and even as far as Kiribati, so we wanted them to have a memorable Christmas party,” Singh said.

Homes like the Sujit Kumar Happy Home, Ba’s Veilomani Boy’s Hostel, Lautoka Sunshine School and the Sigatoka School for Special Education will be visited by Vodafone Staff and receive Vodafone ATH Fiji Foundation Donations.
