Union Trust has installed new technology, called TTY, to help serve the deaf community. TTY stands for Text Telephone. It is also sometimes called a TDD, or Telecommunication Device for the Deaf. A TTY is a special device that lets people who are deaf, hard of hearing, or speech-impaired use the telephone to communicate, by allowing them to type messages back and forth to one another instead of talking and listening. A TTY is required at both ends of the conversation in order to communicate.

Union Trust's Chief Operations Officer Peter Greene tells why the bank invested in the technology, "A current customer requested this type of service for the deaf and we felt it was a great opportunity to meet their needs and probably some others as well. We feel it's important that Union Trust reach out and try to meet the needs of as many people in our communities as we can. The TTY machine is located in our customer service call center where we have people available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Also, the device allows the customer to leave a message after hours so that we may help them right away on the following day. Our customer service team is excited about the new service and they are anxious to help as many people as possible."

Union Trust is committed to serving all members of our community and has installed the technology to serve the deaf community in their service area.

Union Trust has a special TTY phone number 207-667-4936
