GAINESVILLE - Two sign-interpreted performances by the “Laughing Matters” Improv Group are being offered free to people who are deaf as part of Georgia Theatre Conference, hosted by Gainesville Theatre Alliance.
Nancy Meyer and members of Laughing Matters, Atlanta’s premier improvisational comedy troupe, use spontaneous humor and improvisational acting techniques to teach listening skills, cooperation, positive response and creativity. Actors instantly develop skits, songs and poems based on impromptu suggestions – a real-life “Whose Line Is It Anyway?”
Two performances will be sign-interpreted by Jessie Romer and Donna Flanders for people who are deaf.
· Thursday (Oct. 13), 9:30pm-11pm, Hosch Theatre (Brenau University's Burd Center for Performing Arts, 429 Academy Street, Gainesville 30501), is designed to appeal to a teen and adult audience.
· Friday (Oct. 14), 11am-noon, Georgia Mountains Center Theatre (301 Main Street, at the corner of Jesse Jewell Parkway, Gainesville 30501). This will be especially geared for elementary and middle-school aged children.
There is no charge but reservations are needed to enable us to have sufficient seats designated near the sign-interpreters. To make reservations, please contact Beth Kendall at bkendall@gc.peachnet.edu or by phone at 770-718-3721.
