Remember the words of Reid, Pelosi and Obama a few years back about Iraq. And now Obama wants to take credit for ending combat mission in Iraq?

On August 31, the U.S. mission in Iraq will shift from a combat role to an advisory mission to support the Iraqi government and its security forces. Our troops have already begun performing these roles in many parts of the country. While the administration continues seeking credit for “ending the combat mission” in Iraq, it is important to remember that this transition was made possible by the very surge that President Obama and Vice President Biden opposed.
Troops Deserve Credit for Iraq Progress - HUMAN EVENTS

No wonder he's not a very popular Commander in Chief.

so I guess this applies to any Command-in-Chief in the history?

I give obama 100% credit for removing the troops by the deadline

hope there won't be Persian Gulf War III

A war I never liked, ending much too late for my liking. I thank those that fought this winless battle. Some made the ultimate sacrifice. Your sacrifices will never be forgotten.

I appreciate your support of the troops, but you're basically saying "Sorry you had to die for nothing." I don't think they'd feel much comfort from that because they didn't die for nothing. They fought to depose a horribly brutal and destructive dictator and to free the people from his iron fist. They fought to give people the right to vote (remember the purple fingers?). They fought to stabilize a country brought to the brink of civil war by al Qaida and other radical elements.

We don't know how this is going to end up- the country may well slip back into instability for all we know. You may feel that the cost wasn't worth the benefit, and that's a legitimate position, but to say it was a winless battle when in fact we are winning is to ignore basic facts.

A country that now has now better infrastructure, better economy along with a better trained military to withstand terror, especially from their soon to be nuclear neighbor Iran.

Afghanistan is one big open country with few cities not even close to that of metropolitian cities of Iraq. Terror doesn't belong to one country. It's all over the place. We've equipped Iraq to better handle those things now.

Yup, Afghan has been unstable country for around 40 years and thanks to USSR had done with Afghan in late 70's until 1989.
