Another great day! We woke up this morning to find out we had made the Chinese newspaper. A full write up and a color photo!

The story again was an attempt to answer that never ending question; "Why would you come all the way to China to do a camp for handicapped kids?" It's hard for them to understand why kids who have been sent to a lower class, and given little hope are on the receiving end of international attention.

After each day, as our coaching staff meets and reflects on the day, it's hard to determine who has received the greater benefit... us or them. What a blessing for us to have them accept the love, hope and new skills we have to offer.

Today the "Head Master" of the school and his administration came out to thank us. I thought it was great for the kids to see that their leaders showed some interest.

As word gets out about our basketball clinics, the requests from other schools and organizations keep pouring in. What once was a vacation with a few basketball clinics has turned into a booked basketball schedule with little rest.

We did get to work today with 2 girls who played on the Regional Deaf All Star Team. They were really good. We were both surprised and happy to learn that there was such a league. This in itself seemed to imply hope for the handicapped here in China.

Another great accomplishment was realized today... Marcia, my 5'2" wife seized the opportunity to be a big man! She jumped into a five on five basketball game and finally for the first time in her life, had the height advantage. She was towering over the Chinese girls. And, she dominated the paint, showing no mercy. It was her moment of fame and glory, and she took it all to the hoop!

Maybe a minor slip up in our quest of Chinese handicapped esteem building... Whoops!
