The State Journal - News for West Virginia's Leaders
The ringleader of a group of men charged with robbing an elderly deaf woman, was sentenced to prison today. James Kenneth Gaito was sentenced to two years in prison for one count of burglary.
25-year-old Gaito got a relatively light sentence, two years.
The judge made it clear that was because he honored the terms of the plea agreement.
But he also said Gaito recklessly disregarded the safety of an elderly disabled person.
The judge said he read and appreciated letters of support from Gaito's family members.
But he noted that Gaito --as an adult--has been convicted of two thefts, burglary, breaking and entering, receiving stolen property, escape and four counts of driving under suspension.
He said Gaito must undergo drug and alcohol counseling in prison....and pay restitution to the victim
