Hi all,

The first episode of sign language comedy 'The Fingerspellers' has been released online - it's a mini-series about a family of deaf gangsters who protect themselves through the power of sign language!

You can see the first episode on YouTube here: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CX4gSTw_29I]YouTube - The Fingerspellers Episode 1: The New Delivery Boy[/ame]

The Fingerspellers is directed by William Mager and was created and written by Charlie Swinbourne. This is the first of 8 episodes - all of which can be seen online in the next few months!

The series is in BSL with captions. It stars British deaf actors Ilan Dwek, Stephen Collins, Rebecca-Anne Withey, Matt Kirby, David Hirshman, Matthew Gurney and Diana Martin.

This first episode introduces us to the Fingerspeller family, and their boss, Deaffather, who controls the deaf clubs in Metro City. When a rival family, the Operas, come looking for a brand new invention called the Textphone, the family, and their brand-new delivery boy get a nasty surprise...

The series premiered as part of the new series of the BSLBT's deaf magazine show Wicked, earlier today! You can see it as part of Wicked here (starts at 4mins30secs): WICKED 3 Programmes > Series_3 > www.bslbt.co.uk/wicked/programmes/series_3/

Look out for the next episode, which will be released on YouTube in April!

Cheers
