'The Daily Hunter' blog: RumblingsXtra | The Columbus Dispatch
Steve Sandy is pleased by what Sen. Sherrod Brown of Ohio is trying to do to get the U.S. Postal Service to put out a commemorative stamp for deaf former major league baseball player Dummy Hoy, but he is less than thrilled with the deaf community's response to his plans for a film about the former Ohio School for the Deaf grad.
In an e-mail, Sandy said he has heard little from the deaf community since a column about Hoy ran in the Dispatch in February.
"The less we get support from the deaf community, we at Da-Cor Pictures would have no choice but go ahead (with) what is offered by any Major studio production (Universal, Paramount, 20th Century Fox, etc.) and it's possible that the role (of) Dummy Hoy will be (played by) a hearing person selected A-list actor."
