I was reading this link: http://www.labtestsonline.org/understanding/analytes/rubella/test.html

I didn't know that women who were going to be married have to have a rubella test to see if they are immune or not to German Measles!.....so far, I am not worried because I have had congential rubella so I am already immuned to it since I was born. Glad to say I don't have to have the shot! :D

I also noticed that women have to have a physical before they were married too....the whole works....gee, that's a lot of precautious planning, huh? :)

What about guys who will be the husbands? I am sure they will have to go through tests too! :)

Any stories about these from the married folks here? :) If this is too personal, you don't have to answer this thread if you don't want to. :)

Back in the early 90's in Alabama.. it was required by law to have a blood test before getting married.. due to Hiv/Aids back then.. but now they changed the law that doesn't have to be required to take the test.. just go to the court house and get a marriage license then get married.. that's it..

That is interesting. :) I wonder if other states (other than Alabama) do require medical testing before marriage? :) I feel it makes sense to have that as a precaution thing, you know what I mean? :) Not only just HIV issues, but other issues like veneral diseases, cancers (i.e. cervical cancers), breast exams, etc. since after marriage, there will be sex and babies. I feel it is better to be safe than sorry. :)
I agree that marriage takes a lot of trust, love, and "give and take"....no marriage is perfect, but still being honest with the spouse is the best thing healthwise. :)

my mom had rubella when she was preggy.. yet its not always that you can be immuned from rubella... I still had to get rubella shots when i was young and when i was 18 as i went to NTID. they told me i need to take rubella shots and i told them i already had shots back home but health dept lost my record or didnt add to the record so NTID told me to take it again which i did and was suppose to come back and get another shot in two weeks but i refused to.. cuz i dont want to get sick.. ugh.. its required for all kids to be immuned before entering school or colleges.

I never heard of requirement of rubella test for women planning on getting married so thats new to me.. lol weird.. maybe its old like in the past especially during 60s and 70s?? i guess.. but yes for blood test to rule out blood uncompatatbilty like RH + and - but in my homestate didnt require to have blood test as some other states require to..
