Hi. Does anybody know if there's TTY phone numbers that I can use to test--maybe for playing pre-recorded message?

I've tested my TTY over Vonage through Comcast by dialing relay and called my mom just for a small talk, and I (and the relay service) received clear text with no problem. But I don't want to irritate the relay service by calling and testing my TTY so maybe if there's any phone numbers that play pre-recorded message--maybe for checking the weather, it would be helpful to make sure I won't receive garbled text as I have my router connected (DI-524 Wireless) to my phone adapter (Motorola VT2142) and from phone adapter to a cable modem.

Oh it's alright. The reason I ask is I'll be calling Vocational Rehabilitation about the GED I've passed and I will have to make sure I get no garbled text in my TTY when calling through VoIP (Vonage).

Thanks anyway.

Looks like I won't need help by anyone since I've done it via NexTalk's TTY calling capability. I have my mom watch my TTY while I type and made a very short conversation to make sure everything's okay with Vonage/Comcast.

Just in case you didn't know that BellSouth has a TTY/TDD directory (phone book) for the hearing-impaired that BellSouth customers can obtain at no charge. The directory have phone number listings from Florida, Georgia, Alabama, the Carolinas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee and Kentucky and businesses/organisations around in the United States.

The TTY/voice numbers can be found in your regular BellSouth directory (if you have one) or you can get the numbers through this BellSouth Special Needs site.

I'm a Vonage (VoIP) customer and not BellSouth so thanks anyway.

I see. It won't hurt to call to request a TTY/TDD directory from BellSouth, maybe they will send you a copy? BellSouth is the one that provide phone exchanges/prefixes to Vonage and other telephone companies in the southeastern part of the US.

EDITED to add more: If this doesn't work, have someone you know that has BellSouth services to request one for you. :)

I'm interested to see that your TTY calls work without problem over VoIP.

I have Packet8 (for almost 2 years now) as my VoIP provider and I'm very happy with the quality of the service. I don't make TTY calls, If I have to make an important phone call I make a 2-line VCO call with IP relay.
