"Switching" exercise

a thought I had based on the audist language in so many things and the current threads on discrimination-

what if there was a group exercise in a community where you took a bunch of hearing parents and maybe teens and had them go to school at a Deaf school for a day ....to see how it is to be in a world that may be perceived as very different from their own, to see how it feels to be on the "outside" looking in...an exercise as part of Early Intervention services or something...I was just pondering

Excellent idea. Make them wear ear plugs, though.
 
Would being "deaf-SILENCE" FOR ONE DAY would hardly be an incentive to learn ASL- would it?

drphil, if you were responding to me, that's not the point I had, though I guess some people in this potential scenario could end up thinking about that.
Learning ASL for various reasons could be its own topic.
