BOLTON College is supporting Deaf Awareness Week which gets under way on Monday by organising a number of events.

From Tuesday to Friday, Bolton College’s deaf learners and staff will be wearing black and orange, the colours of the National Deaf Awareness campaign, and carrying deaf awareness banners to mark the week.

At noon every day, sign language revision sheets will be distributed, encouraging learners to take part in games to test their sign language skills at lunch times throughout the week. On Tuesday from 10.30am, students are invited to the atrium where deaf and hearing learners will work together to decorate a mannequin’s head, which will be displayed at an exhibition in Bolton at a later date.

On Thursday, from 3pm, deaf comedian John Smith will be performing in the theatre and the performance will be interpreted.
