Stations will open for Fire Prevention Week | IndyStar.com

The Fishers Fire Department once again will open its fire stations for visitors during Fire Prevention Week. The national theme for this year's week of prevention is "Prevent Cooking Fires: Watch What You Heat."

This year's open house schedule will be a change from past years.
While the headquarters station at 2 Municipal Drive next to Town Hall will hold an open house Monday through Saturday, satellite stations will hold their open houses on a rotation schedule, Tuesday through Friday.

The Open House schedule will be as follows:
Station 91, 2 Municipal Drive -- Monday through Oct. 13 5 to 8 p.m. and Oct. 14 noon to 5 p.m.

Monday night is Scout night. Fishers dens that want a more detailed safety program should contact the Fishers Fire Department at (317) 595-3200 to reserve a time slot. Space is limited.

Wednesday night is Spanish language Night. A Fishers Firefighter/paramedic will be available to lead tours in Spanish, for those who may be more comfortable with that language.

Thursday night is deaf and hearing impaired night. Some American Sign Language interpreters will assist with tours for deaf families and answer questions about fire safety issues in the deaf community.
