The state government on Wednesday withdrew its petition filed in Calcutta High Court, challenging the Alipore court order that the report of the five-member committee formed to ascertain the views of an alleged rape victim could not be treated as evidence. he government had formed the panel as the alleged victim was deaf and mute and could not communicate with the court. The trial court had refused to go through the report of the panel. he deaf-and-mute girl was allegedly raped by three police constables in a prison van four years ago.
