The Idaho Board of Education hasn't decided if it'll close the state school for the deaf and blind in Gooding.
The panel says it will study just how to expand services for the state's hearing and sight-impaired students over the next year and a half.
After that, the fate of the 100-year-old school could be on the line as Idaho decides if keeping the central facility or offering more regional classes in local communities -- is the best solution.
Board member Karen McGee, at a meeting this week in Lewiston, says "Currently, blind and deaf students and parents have limited options."
The issue of closing the historic school has been hot since a state House committee this year rejected such a move amid protests that called the decision premature.
