Stanfield is crowned Miss Deaf Teen America | Gainesville.com
Gainesville resident Brooke Stanfield, and Keith Banks, of Orlando — both seniors at the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind — were crowned Mr. and Miss Deaf Teen America recently at the 13th annual Mr./Miss Deaf Teen America Pageant held recently at the Indiana School for the Deaf in Indianapolis.
The contestants were judged on criteria that included state spirit, platform, talent, formal wear and interviews. Deaf teens from around the country participated in the Mr./Miss Deaf Teen America Pageant, which was founded in 1999 to promote emerging deaf leaders, and to help students develop confidence as they work together as a team to represent their school.
