Splash out to help Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children - Health - News - Hills Shire Times

Guy Leech and Susie Maroney are challenging Hills people to get fit, have fun and raise funds for the Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children at the annual Splash for Cash Swimathon on April 9.

The main event is between 8am and 3pm at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre, Homebush, but you can grab some friends and splash out at any location in your own time.

All money raised through the event will ensure one of Australia’s oldest charities can continue to make a difference in the lives of children with a hearing or vision impairment.

“I’ve faced some tough obstacles, but I can only imagine the many challenges deaf children and blind children face throughout their lives,” Leech said.

“That’s why I’m proud to support the Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children’s Splash for Cash swimathon.”

In 2010, about $50,000 was raised thanks to the efforts of more than 100 swimmers who swam nearly 368km.

To participate in the Splash for Cash Swimathon register online at Splash for Cash swimathon | Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children

It is open to all ages and abilities. Participants swim either as individuals or as part of a team, obtaining sponsorship for each lap they swim, or simply for swimming in the event.

All money raised through the Splash for Cash Swimathon will ensure one of Australia’s oldest charities can continue to make a difference in the lives of children with a hearing or vision impairment.
