Again didn't know where to post this so I put it here!

My hearing goes thru periods where it gets worse quickly and this is one of those times. I do have a moderate hearing loss and am waiting for more tests to get HAs.

Over the past few days I've noticed that all speech is taking on the same tone. It's hard to describe but its like it is all monotone. I can't hear inflections at all unless I'm standing right next to someone speaking loudly. My speech discrimination has also gotten much worse at the same time although I still feel like I can hear environmental sounds ok, or as well as before.

Is this part of sensorineural hearing loss? Am I gonna have to call my doctor yet again?

julysrain: I've had SNHL loss since age 3 and I've also experienced voices sounding like a monotone. Once I received HAs and they were programmed to amplify the frequencies I couldn't hear, voices came back to life and I could hear inflection/intonation once again instead of everything sounded blended together/distorted.

It might not hurt to mention this complaint to your doctor and/or audiologist. I'm sure the monotonous sound quality will go away once you have HAs that are set to amplify the frequencies you can't hear now.

Hope this helps! :) Let us know how your new HAs work out! :)
