Jericho, NY (PRWEB) October 18, 2005 -- SoundBytes, a catalog, web and retail-based company that specializes in providing assistive equipment for Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals and the agencies that serve them, today announced, that in continued partnership with the League for the Hard of Hearing, it will open a new store at the League’s Ft. Lauderdale, Florida office. The store will open on November 1st, 2005 and is located at 2800 Oakland Park Blvd., Suite 306 in Oakland Park. The League is one of the oldest and foremost not-for-profit services in the world for people with hearing loss.
"We are proud to continue our partnership with such a well respected and caring organization," said Michael Abramowitz, Managing Director of SoundBytes. "Opening a store in south Florida is an enormous opportunity for us and we are looking forward to providing customers with high quality products which will help them communicate more independently.”
"Having the Soundbytes store on our premises in NYC has been a wonderful service for all of our clients. They greatly appreciate the opportunity to learn about different devices and to try them out. I am very excited about the opening in our Florida office and look forward to a growing partnership," said Laurie Hanin, Ph.D., CCC-A, Executive Director of the League for the Hard of Hearing.
The Florida store joins New York City as the second location that SoundBytes has opened in a League office. These stores provide consumers an opportunity to shop for assistive devices in a “brick and mortar” setting, which complements the SoundBytes mail-order catalog and Internet presence at www.SoundBytes.com. Individuals who visit the League store will have opportunities to view demonstrations and purchase products for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing from manufacturers including Clarity, Ameriphone, Sonic Alert, Krown, ClearSounds, Silent Call, Williams Sound, Ultratec and Conversor. “The New York City location, currently considered the largest and most comprehensive demonstration and sales center on the east coast, will serve as a model for the new Ft. Lauderdale location”, said Seren Gates Amador, Technology Director for SoundBytes.
“While hearing aids provide much improved communication abilities, they may not be for everyone and they may not solve all of life’s listening situations. Sometimes, it is the little things like a telephone amplifier, a door bell signaler or a television device that makes the difference in a person quality of life,” said Kim Schur, Au.D., CCC-A, Director of the League for the Hard of Hearing in Florida.
As with the New York location, a portion of each sale will be donated to the League for the Hard of Hearing. The store's hours of operation will start out at two days a week, Tuesday and Thursday, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. These days coincide with the days that the League serves as a distribution center for the Florida Telecommunications Relay, Inc. (FTRI). The New York City store operates Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and on Monday and Friday by appointment. For more information on the SoundBytes’ stores call 888-816-8191.
