Smart TV with Captions?

Sears will deliver and set it up - my father is useless when it comes to that....:D . Comcast is the cable provider, my tube TV was a Toshiba. It was a good TV for a lot of years but it's huge and starting to go with the picture, and honestly, Samsung has always had the best rating for LED/LCD TVs.

I need to pick up the box from Comcast for the TV prior to buying it so hopefully I'll get squared away soon.

Subtiles from DVD.

Yep here is the HD cable box similar to this image below that can turn on captioning for your TV shows.

I have Comcast HD/DVR cable box... you shouldn't have a problem getting caption.

Here's how to do it:

Setting up Closed Captioning For a25, a28, a30 Guide
Closed captioning can be enabled on all Motorola HD and HD/DVR equipment. Closed captioning on all other equipment will always need to be activated via the television set.

To enable closed captioning:
Turn the cable set-top box off and the TV on.
Press the Menu button on the set-top box or remote control.
Navigate to Closed Captioning using the down arrow.
Press the right arrow to select Enabled or Disabled.
Press Menu to exit.
Turn the cable box on.

Comcast: Turning Closed Captioning On or Off

Thank you, Calvin, and I appreciate everyone's help and input with this thread too. I'll probably be ordering this soon and have them deliver it either this week or on whatever Saturday they have open or I'm home to go over how to use it. Looking forward it.... :)

Probably you already know, you have a choice to pick one, HD receiver (no recordings) or HD DVR which costs a little more.

That means if the DVD doesn't come with subtitles, it will work. But I believe you meant that if the DVD comes with subtitles, it will work. Unless means if not. That's why I got confused in the first place.
 
Very true! This is one of reason why old game console that works only with tube tv (The games that involves shooting) since the sensor inside gun sees specific light frequency that modern TV don't provides.
