Signing up to help deaf people
CHILDREN and parents who successfully completed a sign language course were presented with their awards by Teignbridge MP Richard Younger-Ross.
Six youngsters and four parents took part in the course, which is the equivalent of a GCSE and took a year to complete. The course has attracted the attention of the national deaf society, which wants to develop similar programmes in the future.
In an awards ceremony at the Mary Rose Centre in Buckland, Newton Abbot, the MP congratulated the recipients on their achievements.
The course was organised by the Exeter and South Devon Deaf Children's Society, which managed to raise over £4,000 to cover the cost of tuition.
