Okay, first of all, I have been working for this company for 4 months and we both have been struggling to find a better way for me to involve with their meetings and/or training. I have researched for video relay, speech-to-text, and interpreter and made some recommendation to my bosses. But it was almost 4 months ago – our process was put on hold due to my heretic work schedule as I worked 50-65 hours a week.
Recently, the company is in process transition to different computer software which required us to have excessive training. The problem is due to my busy schedule, my bosses decided to attempt to find a way for me to have interpreter or some sort of tools that will give me better training. And their attempt had failed as the time has ran out (software transition occurs next week) and training classes are now done and I have not take any training at all. They felt bad that I had to learn the software in hard way and they wanted to avoid this happening again.
We also have team meeting every 2 weeks and they really wanted me to get involved instead of sitting in the meeting staring at the walls while everyone discussing the topics. We want something that I can see what they’re talking about and I make some comments.
What I have researched so far:
Purple Communications
Speech-to-Text
Local interpreter service
My concern is that Purple communication and local interpreter can cost us lot of money in long run if we kept hiring them every two weeks - it shouldn't be problem if it's for training. Speech-to-Text can be bit difficult if few people talking at same time that can make software confused and blurry out nonsense grammar or word, especially somebody with accent. Using Purple also can be difficult depending on how good connection to Internet.
Now, I’m posting this seeking anybody with experience using technology during your meeting or training classes. I wanted to see what kind of suggestion or recommendation you may have. I would appreciate that.
