SC School for the Deaf and the Blind hosting chili cook-off Jan. 21 | Spartanburg Spark
The hottest event of the year is back! Tickets for the 2012 So You Think You Can Cook Chili Cook-off, presented by JM Smith Corporation, are now available! The Walker Foundation, the fundraising arm of the SC School for the Deaf and the Blind (SCSDB), is hosting the delicious chili competition to benefit SCSDB students on Saturday, January 21. The cook-off will kick-off in downtown Spartanburg’s Indigo Hall at 7 p.m., where 11 teams will vie for the title of tastiest chili in the Upstate! Winners will be determined by attendees’ and judges’ votes on taste and presentation. Sponsorship and early voting opportunities are also available to sizzle up the competition! Tickets are available online at The Walker Foundation.
This year, 11 teams made up of Spartanburg’s finest are set to take the chili-cooking stage. Each dynamic team has a special web page to start their voting campaigns! Each page will have photos and information on team members and their chili; secret recipes excluded of course! Team pages can be found at The Walker Foundation. For a full list of competitors, please see attachment.
“This event has grown so much in just one year that we are extending the invitation out statewide!” said Ann Akerman, CEO of The Walker Foundation. “The chili cook-off is really a fantastic and fun way to bring members of the greater South Carolina community together for a wonderful cause – the students of the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind.”
For more information on the cook-off or The Walker Foundation, please contact Ann Akerman, CEO, The Walker Foundation, at (864) 577-7583 or via email at aakerman@scsdb.org. More information is also available at The Walker Foundation.
