SATURDAY is D-day for the Miss Deaf Swaziland beauty pageant to be held at the School for the Deaf’s newly-built hall.
Edgars Stores has sponsored the event with Clinique’s beauty products hampers worth E1 500 for the queen and her princesses.
“Though time is not on our side, we are still seeking further sponsorship for the event. We would like to thank Edgars for always being there for us,” Sizwe Ndlela, a teacher at the school said.
Meanwhile Edgard Store Manager Mzwandile Dlamini said his company made the donation through its corporate social investment programme.
“We are proud to be associated with such organisations because they are our customers,” he said.
Local jazz act, Bholoja will be giving out the entertainment on the evening and the school’s drama group will also render a performance.
Ndlela further thanked designer, Bongi Gray for sponsoring them with the contestants’ evening wear and the whole choreography for the event.
Admission to the event is E20 for adults and E10 for pupils.
An after party will be held at the Cultural Heritage Hub in Siteki where DJs Peace, Mfundo will be manning the turntable. Entry to the after party is E30.
Objectives of the Miss Deaf Swaziland beauty pageant is bring out the inherent talents of Deaf pupils, to develop artistic and creative ability of deaf pupils, elevate the image and self-confidence of the children, encourage and foster future leaders.
Others are to create a more caring and compassionate environment for the deaf pupils as well as to promote deaf culture and community.
The contestants for the evening include:16-year-old Ceb’sile Dlamini, Mthandi Mkhatjwa, Sizakele Dladla, Ncam’sile Magongo, Nelisiwe Dlamini.
Others are Simphiwe Mhlanga, 20-year-old Nonhlanhla Ngcamphalala, Nompilo Maseko, Nomvula Khoza and Simphiwe Magagula.
