If I heard this werid noisy in my ears, is that ringing? I get this sharp, shutting my sound to hear, and loud noisy in my ears starting in mid morning until night time off and on. It gets bad during evening time.

My audiologist and ENT doctor are trying to figure out why I am getting this ringing and shutting my sounds from my ears.

I hope I am not losing anymore hearing since I lost some already.

Tinnitus isn't just ringing in the ears, it ranges from a whole broad load of different weird sounds like a jackhammer, wind, schreches (sp)?, you name it, whatever noises you hear that's probably it.

You can probably find out more info. by researching it at www.hyperacusis.net.

ENT's and audiologists don't know everything!, and even when they do know about something the possibility of them even tellling you is likely next to nil.
That's just the way their legislations are, they can't share information with you because their only solution to anything is either surgery or the knife which is what they have only been trained in!

Fact of the matter is that tinnitus is not fully understood period. It has been observed that another (via special means) can hear the tinnitus! They were trying to determine whether it was "real" or phantom noise. It was simply astounding to them that the cochlea was actually generating noise (when no noise was present to account for it).

They never operate for tinnitus except in extreme cases that are related to other issues.

Sadly, tinnitus is often a sign of some hearing damage and the continual presence of it generally indicates more to come.
