Hi,

I like to share this great news that happened on Monday. For several years now the North Carolina School for the Deaf Foundation at Morganton has worked to build a private retirement community for the Deaf, DeafBlind and blind here in Morganton, North Carolina. Two purposes involved in this project. First there is a need of a retirement for the deaf; it is a place that will have open communication. Second, after all is done and paid for the center, part of the "profit" money will go to a school for the deaf (NCSD) to support that school. It will be a nice income for the school that the state will not pay for. Monday the city of Morganton approved of us buying the site for our retirement community.

Thank you..

Wonderful news....and will forward this to some friends in N.C.....I'm a grad of NCSD myself.

Cool. Glad to hear of this great group!!! I wish there were something like that in Chicago. Keep up the great work :).

That indicate that North Carolina School for the Deaf would not have to be worry about lack of fund which might mean close down on the Deaf school. So as long as you have retire Deaf/Blind seniors or Elders to pay to live in retirement home and having the fund enough to keep the Deaf school running. Also I do hope that AGBell Foundation would not come in the Retirement home or Deaf school and make them use speech instead ASL. Just like mainstream school with no ASL for students in need to learn and understand in the classrooms and so are the seniors in their retirement to have easy access communication in signing ASL. I am keeping my fingers cross that we need ASL in both places.

It is good news about getting a place for retirement home for seniors. We need both places to stay open as much as they have enough fund to keep the buildings from closing up. Good luck on this. :thumb: :D
