Hi,
I was wondering if this new product idea would be useful for the deaf community. Can you please give me your opinion?
You would hold a camera-cellphone to your mouth and mouth the words of what you want to say. Software on the phone would recognize your lip and mouth movements and generate the audio speech. this will help you communicate with hearing persons - so that they can hear you.

Is there something already present? Would you personally use such a product?
How well does lip reading software work - have you tried any of them?

I would appreciate your responses.

This probably wouldnt work that well. Everybody speaks "differently". Mouth movements vary slightly from person to person. Like this wouldnt work for me at all, I have had a tumor removed from both hearing nerves and when doing so the facial nerve was damaged, so I can move my mouth well, and I'm pretty sure the software wouldn't catch anything I said correctly
