Do you want to know why?

1. you have cheap password
2. you leave too many infomation such as bday, where you go
3. you accept the stranger who have amazing skill to hack your butt
4. you're on cheap PC.

How does it actually work? Do they figure out where you live and follow you to the atm and take your reciept that you threw in the trash or is it primarily just computer tracking?

(sorry for off topic response to the original post)

Some people use their birthday, dog's name, mother's maiden name et cetera as their password.

And some people use the same password for all their sites. Plus, others don't change the passwords often enough.

hacker heaven

i was reading something recently that most of the attacks come from russia. figures since the russian gov wil not arrest anyone screwing an american. there are programs out there to crack your password. now a days they say you must use at least 15 characters to be secure.

1. I put very strong password on it....
2. No i did not leave too many information on that at all...
3. I never accept the stranger unless know that person pretty well...
4. Well... my other computer that i bought from the guy who install custom for 80 dollars back in Feb. 2010....

The only i opened the link with many people (i.e = between lots of persons name and you) with a link that spread people's FB inbox and mine too which i did not sent that out to everyone.... And also, if someone tagged your photo from FB through e-mail or FB inbox and opened it - BAM you got the virus from FB....

So, i am just a victim of hacker or virus from FB....

What kind of anti-virus program do you use? I use Esset Nod32, which is steep at 60 a year, but well worth it to me.

Okay... my other computer (already dead) uses Avast (Free edition) and it failed to protect my dead computer.... My wife uses AVG (free edition) and it did protect hers for long time and no problems.... So on my current computer which i bought yesterday and i installed AVG 2011 (free edition) and hopefully it protect my computer from virus and etc.... :fingersx:

I see. From my experience, free editions are next to worthless. I lost two computers that way before I got a clue. Just letting you know.

Oh i see and we could not afford expensive Anti-Virus programs while on SSI/SSA as we are trying to cut expenses and saving money for another vehicle (next year) and moving (prolly late next year or two years from now).... And once we both working either part time or full time and we might purchase little expensive than free edition anti-virus programs later....:hmm:

try Microsoft Security Essential. it's good and free.

Microsoft security essential is good too, I use it.

I have a friend who is comp expert.

I had a lot of spams through hotmail from supposely person that I know but it wasn't from them. I have since turned the email notifcations off from FB to my normal email address then I KNOW that most of emails from FB are fakes so they are deleted immediately. I had few friends who requested for my friendship even that person are already on my friends list, i check with them first before accepting their friendship (8/10 friends request were fakes!!)
All of my passwords are changed every few weeks to keep the problem minimum. So far I have been lucky that it had not affected me.

I use McAfee Anti-Virus for my Win7 laptop and my desktop. My Vista laptop used AVG and ZoneAlarm, both were free editions. What AVG would miss, ZoneAlarm would catch and what ZoneAlarm would miss, AVG would catch so they both complimented each other really well.

I also recommend getting anti-malware protection.
