Hello, I'm new here and am a little overwhelmed with the hugeness of the forum but i thought I'd start with a question.

I read Susan Schaller's book A Man Without A Language and in there she says that deaf people will sign information back and forth amongst themselves till they all agree on what was said.

I find that very interesting and was wondering if it's really true.
 
same thing - when translating foreign book into English... several translators will debate until they all agree on what was said from original language. Same thing for interpreting Bible.

Does this make sense to you?
 
It does make sense when you say it that way. But is it only done when translating a hearing person or in all situations?

It touches me because it seems like there would be less misunderstandings and fewer people feeling alienated/isolated. I wish the hearing world would do this more because I think less people would fall through the cracks of our education system or society.
