I appreciate your response and I agree with what you said above that having a CI should be a choice.  If my daughter had been born deaf, I would wait until she was old enough to decide for herself what path she would want to take if at all.  I will never force anything on her.  If I had the choice to hear 100% perfect for the rest of my life and never wear any device again, I would not do it.  My hearing (errr lack of ) has made me who I am today.  And just to be clear, I'm not trying to disrespect you or the decisions you make in any way or make this about me.  It wasn't my intent to derail this thread and if you'd like to discuss more we can take it to PM.
