Bebonang, in million dollar section <"if you had million dollars..."> u talked about pow wows, I love the pow wow! Do you have a certain favorite style of dance or regalia?
 
Wow, you have put the thread for me as I love to powwow on the powwow ground or in the building (Arena). I love to do two steps the best like the women's traditional dance. I also love to feel the drums where there were five or six drummers pounding the drums the loudest. We have several drums and they take turns doing them. I don't have my own traditional outfit, but I have been going to powwows since I was fifteen years old. Someday I will have a traditional outfit either making it for myself or someone will make the outfit for me. Right now I am not worry about not having the outfit. Thank you for being interest in the powwows. If you go to powwows, then you will know about the rules and why we have powwows. Just have fun watching and dancing there. :D
 
I LOVE the drums, love to dance in Inter-tribals! I bet whatever outfit you have will be just beautiful! The Grand Entry I also love. Women's Traditional and Men's Fancy Dance are both great! It is hard for me to pick a favorite :D

At last report, you were a Jewish Pagan, dogmom!! How do you get invited to dance in Native American rituals?
 
Ha ha, I suspect there is much we don't know about dogmom ;)

I too love the pow wows, when the drums vibrate my core (and my ovaries, haha), the energy raised is so powerful and I am humbled by it.
 
I love pow wow, my sister is interest about to pow wow that is pretty i about to story really pretty I am glad of you..

Thank you, Travis. I am glad that you and your sister love to go to powwows and enjoy watching. Do you know how to dance the two steps that the men dance? You just have to watch them dance and follow them if you get the hang of it. You will be just fine and if you are not perfect in the traditional dance, don't worry about it and just do your thing. No one is perfect in dancing. My husband who is Ojibwe (Chippewa) can not dance at all. I tried to coax him to come on the powwow ground and dance with me, but he just want to watch the traditional dances. So that is okay. :cool2:

I know it is hard to pick a favorite traditional dance like for women's traditional. I pick two favorites, Jingle dance and Buckskin dances (women who wear deer skin hides for this special dances whether white or yellow hides). And two favorites for men, I like the Sweetgrass dance and Men's traditional dance the best. The Grand Entry is always beautiful and it is to show the honor and respect to the soldiers in the wars which many native men goes to wars and get killed. :( Then native men and women in their traditional outfits dance after them and that takes about fifteen to twenty minutes, maybe more to finish the Grand Entry. Then there will be traditional dances to show us their flairs. It will go on all day starting with the Grand Entry at 12 pm until about five or five thirty pm to take a break and then start the Grand Entry at 7 pm until the announcer say to stop and to tell us to go home. Most powwows events last two days and others last three days. Very common is two days only.

yes, u right Bott - am Jewish pagan. Inter-tribal opportunity for all and any to dance, not have to be identified as First Nation/Native.

Yes, Jingle Dance I was thinking about that, I can understand why that would be one of your favorites!

Pow Wow raises so much power, important to remember who you are - Dine, Lakota, Pequot, Apache, Annishanabe, Ho-Chunk, Ute, Maya, Chumash, Inuit...many many more, the People must dance on-

Two things touch me deep down in the place of Spirit like nothing else - the Pow Wow and Jewish music!
 
I'd have to go with jingle dress (I'm blackfeet :) ) since that's what I started out with. I also enjoy the chicken dance (yes, that is a real pow wow dance and I'm not reffering to that other one)

For the chicken dance its just how well the dancers imitate the chicken's movements, like the head movements, and how colorful they are. As for jingle its just fun to dance to :P
