More Victims Possible, Police Say

POSTED: Thursday, July 8, 2010

FRANKLIN, Ohio -- Police said a 31-year-old woman pretended to be a 14-year-old boy so she could have a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old girl, WLWT-TV in Cincinnati reported.

Patricia Dye is charged with corruption of a minor and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

Police said Dye cut her hair and used the alias Matt Abrams to get close to the girl in May, and detectives said she even met the girl's parents as Abrams.

The 4-foot-11, 120-pound woman was arrested after the teen had run away from home for three days and stayed with Dye at least part of that time, he said.

The girl did not know Dye was a woman, police said.

Warren County prosecutor's spokesman Matt Nolan said Dye and the girl had sexual conduct at the girl's home. Nolan said Dye has used several aliases and her last known address was a hotel.

The girl and Dye met through a mutual friend, and most of their early interactions were over the Internet, Nolan said.

"It does seem odd that a teenage girl would think that this was a young teenage male, but her physical characteristics ... are closer to looking like a 14-year-old male than a 30-year-old woman," Nolan said. "It's not that crazy that you would see her and think that's a young male."

Police agreed that Dye's appearance was convincing.

"If I didn't know, I wouldn't have questioned it, either," said Detective Robert Marchiny. "(Dye) could pass for a 14-, 15-, 16-year old boy very easily."

Marchiny said Dye may have had other victims and had apparently been impersonating a boy for some time.

Dye set up a Facebook page under the Abrams name, police said.

Her mother told WLWT-TV that her daughter had been telling people for years that she was a boy, and she used to get calls from her daughter's school about it when she was younger.

"She used to say that when she was going to school, that she was a boy," Dorothy Dye said.

Dorothy Dye claimed her daughter was very smart and didn't have any problems, but she told her to be careful with the teen when she brought her to the hotel room where Patricia Dye lives with her parents.

"I didn't understand what was going on between her and that girl," Dorothy Dye said. "I told her all along not to get close to that 16-year-old girl."

Dye is being held at the Warren County Jail on $100,000 bond.

"She made a mistake and she had to learn the hard way," Dorothy Dye said.

Marchiny said Dye has admitted to the deception, and her lawyer, William Robert Kaufman, said his client had not entered a plea but is assumed not guilty.

Now that's a first. It's like a pedophile form of Brandon Teena/Teena Brandon. She may get off on the insanity part claiming she has GID (Gender Identity Disorder) and has difficulty making rational decisions at times. I say "stupid woman."

I would not buy that about being insane. That is B S.

It's the American court system, anything is possible. I've seen some ludicrous claims go before a judge at a hearing and sure enough it works.

Looking at the picture, the eyes and lack of an Adam's Apple should have been a dead giveaway that this is not a guy, otherwise the other features and short boy hair gives her the appearance of a 15/16 year old boy.
