i am asking this question on here since it seems i didn't get a lot of help in introduce yourself so i hope i have better luck here, i am 17 years old, hearing, and a junior at my high school. currently my school teaches sign language and im in my second year of learning and ill be turning 18 in a couple months and moving close to Chicago, Illinois to a school who doesnt teach it but im interested in the language and culture and would like to know if there is a school for the deaf near chicago and what is it's name and what ages do they teach, id also like to know if its possible for an 18 year old high school senior to work there as a teacher aid or maybe some other job and tell me what kind of job might they let me have? i dont care if i get paid or if it is volunteer i would like to learn the language not only for myself but also for my boyfriend who is hard of hearing and getting worse. also i would like to work there because i will be extremly tight on money and wont beable to pay for classes and i would love to work at a translator for multiple languages and ASL is one of them.

Best thing u can do is contact the schools in that area and find out if u can work as a volunteer. I work at a deaf school and we accept volunteers 18 and above :)

you also can check wisconsin school for the deaf, in Delavan. i believe it is only 2 hrs or so from chicago if i remember correctly.

or milwaukee, wisc... there is a couple schools with deaf programs. i believe those are only like 45 min or something from chicago.

(i orginally is from wisconsin but it has been too long since i have been touched in wisc and i found myself unable to remember exactly distances to those locations lol)
