My name is Laura, and no, I'm not actually deaf. But for my final creative writing piece I'm writing about a young deaf girl.
Obviously, this is hard for me because I am not deaf and do not know any deaf people. I am not willing to do the piece though, if I am not well enough informed (at risk of offending or just looking like an idiot).
The story is about a teenage girl who feels isolated and alienated from the rest of the world... She has deaf friends but still feels cut off.
If anyone could give me the smallest, tiniest little bit of help with this it would be much appreciated. Any of your own experiences regarding isolation, depression etc (you don't have to tell me anythng too personal) would be VERY MUCH APPRECIATED. I've written the first part and now need your help to finish it!!!
