"I don't know what will be recommended to the Legislature this year in terms of the future of the ISDB," Howard wrote in the memo. "But the issue of transportation to that school or to other regional centers is of importance to every district."
Harvey Lyter, interim superintendent of the Idaho School for the Deaf and the Blind, said the transportation issue had been a concern long before Luna was elected. He also said Luna will likely wait to work with department staff before deciding on issues such as the transportation costs.
But that could be a problem because eight staff members who work with the department's Special Population Services, which works closely with the ISDB, were either dismissed or they resigned.
