The Haryana Government would start new professional courses for the deaf and dumb students in the Industrial Training Institutes of the State.

The Industrial Training institute of Gurgaon is being developed as a hub in which new professional courses and degree programmes will be started to give training to such children for making them self-reliant.

It was informed by Chairperson of Haryana Deaf and Dumb Welfare Samiti, Dr Anita Sharma while addressing the players at 8th state level Shravan-Vani Viklang Sports Competition at Sirsa on Saturday.

As many as 250 deaf and dumb boys and girls were participating in this two-day competition.

She said that deaf and dumb students had been given admission in the institute at Gurgaon to impart them professional training.

Many of them had been able to get jobs in big companies after completing their training at this institute. Process had been initiated to start professional courses for these children in the Industrial Training Institutes located at the district level of the state in near future.

Sharma said that many schemes had been launched for the deaf and dumb students by the State Government. These students had also been given jobs in government departments.

Their pension had also been doubled from Rs.300 to Rs. 600. She said that these children were also being provided sports facilities besides educational facilities so that they could participate in the National and International events and to bring laurels to the state.

Many of these students studying in seven centres of the state had obtained over 90 per cent marks, she said, adding to an official release here.
